Today's comparison focuses on two popular summer tyres, the Continental PremiumContact 6 and the Maxxis Victra Sport 5. Both offer unique features and benefits, developed by two of the industry's leading manufacturers. We will evaluate both tyres using various tests data to provide a comprehensive comparison.

The Continental PremiumContact 6 tyre replaces the Continental ContiPremiumContact 5. It inherits some best features from its predecessor and pushes the bar higher in terms of performance by introducing several improvements. This tyre is made in Slovakia, Germany, and the Czech Republic and it holds a high overall rating of 92%. Its strength lies in its dry handling and steering response, as highlighted by its standout performance in the AutoMotorSport test. It also attains high scores for comfort, dry handling and dry lane changing. However, it seems to have some weaknesses in wet conditions. This tyre has now been superseded by the Continental PremiumContact 7

On the other hand, the Maxxis Victra Sport 5 is manufactured in China and rates at 74%. Despite a lower overall score, it demonstrates surprising robustness in wet conditions. It ranked well in the AutoMotorSport test for its wet handling and side guide, indicating a high level of control in slippery conditions. Its other best features are aquaplaning, noise reduction and mileage. However, according to tests data, it had the tendency of showing weaknesses in dry cornering precision and wet braking.

Various tests ranked the Continental tyre higher than the Maxxis tyre. For instance, in the AutoMotorSport test, it came 3rd out of 11 tyres, whereas Maxxis was ranked 5th. Furthermore, in the Autozeitung test, Continental ranked 2nd out of 10 tyres, surpassing Maxxis which took the 7th position. Finally, in the ADAC test, Continental managed to outperform 16 other tyres, securing the top spot while Maxxis was 4th.

To sum up, both Continental and Maxxis tyres offer reliable performance, excellent grip and safe handling. With Continental leading in dry conditions and Maxxis showing promising performance in wet conditions, your ultimate choice will depend on your specific driving needs and preferences.
