Here we are comparing two premium tyres, the Viking Protech NewGen manufactured by Viking and the Firestone Roadhawk made by Firestone.
Starting off with the Viking Protech NewGen tyre, which is a summer tyre, it received an overall rating of 26% from our testing. It was reported to have excellent Fuel Efficiency during the ADAC test where it secured the 16th position out of 17. The Autobild test was much harsher, putting it in the 36th place out of 53, highlighting weaknesses particularly on both dry and wet surfaces. However, positive notes were stated about its good environmental score and decent lifespan.
On the other hand, the Firestone Roadhawk tyre is also a summer tyre and it performed significantly better, with an overall rating of 59%. In the ADAC test, it ended up in the last position, but it did much better in the Autobild where it ranked as the 10th tyre out of 53. The tyre's strengths include Dry Handling, Wet Handling, and Wet side guide while its weaknesses lay more towards performance on wet surfaces and slight wear issues. However, it got praised for its high efficiency, minimal wear and solid dry surface performance.
So, comparing the two, the Firestone Roadhawk seems to be a better option overall as per the mutual test results, despite its few mentioned drawbacks. While the Viking Protech NewGen might be of interest to those looking for a more environment-friendly tyre with good fuel efficiency, the Firestone Roadhawk is the better choice when considering grip and handling, particularly in summer conditions.
It is important to mention that neither tyre has been replaced by a newer model as of yet, ensuring that the reviewed models are the current offerings by the respective manufacturers.
In conclusion, both tyres perform decently in their distinct areas. Depending upon individual requirements, one can choose between the two. If fuel efficiency and environmental impact are higher on your priority list, the Viking Protech NewGen could be of interest. However, Firestone Roadhawk seems to provide a more balanced performance overall.
