We're comparing two winter tyres, the Firestone Multiseason 2 and the Nokian Seasonproof. Here's what we've gathered from various tyre tests.

The Firestone Multiseason 2, made in Italy, scored a respectable 67% in our ratings. Test highlights included short braking on snow and when wet, high mileage, and low rolling resistance. However, there were concerns about modest lateral grip on the snow, limited safety margins when cornering in aquaplaning scenarios, and longer dry braking distances.

On the other hand, Nokian's Seasonproof tyre impressed with its performance on ice and snow, its hydroplaning qualities, and stability when handling dry roads. Not to mention, it's quiet when driving by. But, it has longer braking distances on both wet and dry surfaces. The tyre didn't necessarily outperform the Firestone Multiseason 2 but put up consistent numbers in multiple categories.

Looking at tests from Autoklub ČR and Autobild, the Nokian Seasonproof ranked 5th and 9th out of 10 and 32 tyres, respectively, while the Firestone Multiseason 2 ranked 6th and 16th. While both are mid-pack, the Nokian Seasonproof marginally outperformed Firestone. However, these positions don't provide a clear-cut victor between the two.

In conclusion, these two tyres present unique strengths and weaknesses. The Firestone Multiseason 2 offers high mileage and low rolling resistance, but falls short with lateral grip on snow and longer dry braking distances. Nokian's Seasonproof shines on ice and snow and is remarkably quiet, but struggles with wet and dry braking distances. Our advice? Your choice between these two models should depend on the specific needs of your vehicle and driving conditions.
