Our tyre test comparison focuses on two summer tyres, the Barum Bravuris 5 HM and the Sava Intensa UHP 2. Both are quality tyres from well-established manufacturers Barum and Sava, respectively.
The Barum Bravuris 5 HM received an overall rating of 39% in our tests. Unfortunately, in comparison to other tyres, this placed it at the lower end of the scale in the Autobild and ADAC tests, with positions of 42 out of 50 and 15 out of 17 respectively. This tyre is not a successor to any previous Barum models and as of now, it has not been replaced by a newer model.
On the other hand, the Sava Intensa UHP 2, which is an improved model from its predecessor Sava Intensa UHP, scored better in our tests with an overall rating of 67%. This tyre performed impressively in the Autobild and ADAC test, securing positions of 28 out of 50 and 12 out of 17 respectively. Additionally, the Sava Intensa UHP 2 received commendable comments for its excellent safety reserves in case of aquaplaning, stable behaviour on dry tracks, short wet and dry braking distances, good comfort, and affordable price. The tyre also demonstrated less noise, making it a reliable choice for a smooth, comfortable ride.
However, both tyres are not without their flaws. The Barum Bravuris 5 HM failed to secure a higher position in the tests, potentially indicating less optimal performance in comparison with other tyres. The Sava Intensa UHP 2, despite its largely positive features, was noted with a limited tyre life and slight weaknesses on wet surfaces.
In conclusion, based on the test data, the Sava Intensa UHP 2 outperforms the Barum Bravuris 5 HM overall. Despite some minor weaknesses, the Sava Intensa UHP 2's strong performance in safety, comfort, and noise reduction make it a superior choice for a summer tyre.
