Today, we are comparing two summer tyres: the Bridgestone Turanza 6 and the Falken Azenis FK520.
The Bridgestone Turanza 6 , made in Spain, gained an impressive 83% from our team. It is the latest tyre in the Turanza series replacing the Turanza T005. In Autobild's tyre tests, the Turanza 6 ranked 16th out of 50 tested tyres. It was praised for its comfort and low rolling resistance. In the Automotorsport tests, a notable feature was again its low rolling resistance and it bagged a 4th position from 8 tyres.
The Falken Azenis FK520, manufactured in Turkey, scored a rating of 75% from us. It is a UUHP (Ultra Ultra High Performance) tyre succeeding the Azenis FK510. In comparison tests by Autobild, the FK520 placed 8th out of 50 tyres and was lauded for its resistive capabilities in longitudinal aquaplaning. However, the FK520 showed marginally less impressive performance in the Automotorsport tests, coming in 7th out of 8.
Both tyres reveal strengths and weaknesses, based on the text summaries from automotorsport 2024 and autobild 2023. The Bridgestone Turanza 6 provides good aquaplaning prevention, but has some limitations in terms of traction and curve grip in rainy conditions. The Falken Azenis FK520 shines in aquaplaning prevention and has excellent dry driving behaviour. Nevertheless, it has limitations in the rain, especially with braking, traction, and a bit of oversteering and understeering.
In conclusion, Bridgestone Turanza 6 gives an overall stronger performance in terms of comfort and rolling resistance, irrespective of whether it's dry or wet. Falken Azenis FK520 stands out slightly for its handling of aquaplaning. To summarise, if comfort and low rolling resistance are your top priorities, the Bridgestone Turanza 6 is the better choice. If you often find yourself driving in wet conditions, the Falken Azenis FK520 might be worthy of consideration.
