If you're searching for an all-round tyre choice, narrowing down the choices between Cooper Discoverer All Season and Michelin CrossClimate 2 can be challenging.
Produced by American manufacturer Cooper, the Discoverer All Season is an all-rounder that didn't fare too well in our tests, garnering a rating of 35%. In the ARBÖ test, it came in 8th out of 9 tyres. Similarly, it was ranked 9th out of 10 tyres in the Autobild test, with its main strengths being its Aquaplaning and Wet Handling capabilities. However, a detailed summary from Autobild 2021 highlighted some of its weaknesses including understeering behaviour on snowy and wet tracks, delayed steering response, moderate comfort, and increased rolling resistance.
Contrastingly, the European-made Michelin CrossClimate 2, replacing the Michelin CrossClimate, excelled in our reviews with a remarkable 96% rating. It delivered a stellar performance in the ARBÖ test, coming out first, and ranked second in the Autobild test. Its superior features include Dry Braking, Dry Handling, Rolling resistance, Snow traction, Exterior noise, and Comfort. The Autobild 2021 test concurs with our findings praising the tyre for its exemplary driving characteristics on snowy and dry tracks, short dry braking distances, and fuel-efficient rolling resistance.
Although the Cooper Discoverer All Season tyre is noted for its good Aquaplaning and Wet handling properties, its overall performance and comfort leave much to be desired.
On the other hand, the Michelin CrossClimate 2, produced by renowned tyre manufacturer Michelin, has consistently ranked highly in multiple tests while delivering a well-rounded superior performance in various weather conditions. However, its wet handling has a slight understeering tendency.
Based on this data, the Michelin CrossClimate 2 offers a more reliable, higher-performing all-season tyre choice.
