Today we are comparing two top-performance tyres, the Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2 and the Continental PremiumContact 7, both known for their exceptional features and high-quality constructions. Each tyre coming from reputable manufacturers, Dunlop and Continental respectively.

The Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2 excels in providing security when dealing with Aquaplaning, evidenced by its best score in both cross and longitudinal aquaplaning tests conducted by Autobild, where it secured 13th place out of 50 tyres tested. However, while it holds a high rating of 76% by our own verdict, it falls behind in test outcomes of the sportauto and ADAC. Sportauto's testing pointed towards a slightly sluggish performance in handling when conditions are wet and ADAC observed a delayed response during dry steering. Yet, this tyre shines in terms of Hydroplaning resistance and fuel efficiency.

On the other side, the Continental PremiumContact 7 emerged as the first position in tests conducted by sportauto and ADAC. The tyre repeatedly demonstrated exceptional performances in wet braking, dry handling and dry braking. In addition, it displayed superior performance in handling under wet conditions, wet circle cornering and in terms of Aquaplaning resistance. The tyre also shows excellent rolling resistance, which contributes to its overall fuel efficiency. Our rating for this tyre is a high 97%.

The Continental PremiumContact 7 is durable, proving to have a good Admiral's life and impressive economy. However, its high-quality performance does come with an elevated price, as was noted in an ADAC test. Furthermore, with a lineage stretching from the Continental PremiumContact 5 to 6, this latest model continues to not only maintain but improve upon the premium quality and high performance that the range is known for.

Both tyres have their strengths and weaknesses, with the Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT2 shining in providing Aquaplaning security and the Continental PremiumContact 7 showcasing its first-class performance in dry and wet conditions. The decision between these two high-quality tyres will come down to individual needs and driver preference.

Neither tyre has been replaced with a newer model yet, importantly holding their ground in the summer tyre category, providing consumers unrivaled performances in their respective areas. No doubt, both are secure purchases from respected manufacturers and their choice will be determined by individual specific requirements and preferences.
