Today, we are comparing two powerhouse tyres: The Kleber Quadraxer 3 and Michelin CrossClimate 2 by their respective manufacturers Kleber and Michelin. The classification in this comparison is 'allround', referring to all-weather conditions. The tires are made in Poland (Kleber) and in Italy and Spain (Michelin).
The Kleber Quadraxer 3, resulting from Kleber's continuous improvements from itsprevious model Quadraxer 2, obtains an overall rating of 87% from our side. Known as a successful all-rounder, this tire has demonstrated convincing performance on snow and ice, with short dry braking distances and a very good comfort level. However, some reviews mentioned a tendency to understeer on dry roads.
Contrarily, Michelin CrossClimate 2, succeeding their CrossClimate model, received an astounding rating of 93% from us, performing remarkably well on snow and ice, in dry and wet conditions, and providing an impressively quiet driving comfort. Its only shortcoming pointed out by some reviewers was in the area of wet handling and braking.
When put to test against 37 other tires by AUTOBILD, Kleber Quadraxer 3 finished 7th while Michelin CrossClimate 2 took the 4th spot. In a smaller test of only 15 tyres by Autobild, the tables turned as the Quadraxer 3 took the 4th spot, earning praises for its comfort, snow handling, and dry braking. The CrossClimate 2 finished 9th in this test but nonetheless showed strength in comfort, snow handling, cornering and traction.
In conclusion, while both tyres have their respective strengths, it is the Michelin CrossClimate 2 which takes the prize in this duel. Its superior performance, luxurious comfort, and the very low rolling resistance were appreciated by reviewers, outweighing its average performance on wet surfaces. However, if budget is a concern, the Kleber Quadraxer 3 is a respectable option, it balances a decent performance with a moderately lower price point.
